LAHORE:

Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) Punjab President Manzoor Wattoo on Monday called for nominations for each constituency of the National Assembly for the Punjab council of the party.

He was presiding over a meeting of divisional heads, district presidents, secretary generals and the heads of allied wings of the PPP.

He said the Punjab council was the highest consultative body for the party in the province.

He said the council would meet every three months to suggest ways to improve performance of the party’s office bearers.

He also asked for the names of former office bearers of the PPP to the party’s secretariat to arrange a meeting with Bilawal Bhutto Zardari during his visit to Lahore.

He emphasised the importance of re-organisation of the party at the union council and ward level.

It was decided that office bearers would mount flags atop office buildings of the party, residences and other places as part of preparations to welcome Bilawal Bhutto Zardari. He criticised the privatisation plans of the government, saying they would generate unemployment and would create a breeding ground for extremism.

He said the PPP was looking forward to Bilawal’s arrival in Lahore.
