The vehicle was travelling from Sea View onto Korangi Road when the incident occurred. Korangi's SP Usman Bajwa confirmed that it was a suicide attack.
The suicide bomber was reportedly on foot and was not close to his target when he detonated the explosives.
The vehicle was damaged but police confirmed that Rangers personnel remained unharmed after the blast.
Police said that body parts - believed to be of the suicide bomber - were found near the site of the blast. The body parts have been taken to Jinnah Post Graduate Medical Center for DNA analysis.
Rangers and police have cordoned off the area and an investigation is ongoing.

@Hipster: Its North Waziristan.
operation in karachi..against whom......LEA''s busy in arresting innocent people and releasing after taking money..
someone is trying to sabotage peace talks.The enemy of Pakistan are active and do not want peace talks in the field and in the media.
Security forces and police in Pakistan inorder to be alive are advised to stay indoors.
@SilverT: I am sorry but majority of our Pusthun brothers are being killed by those who we want to strike a peace deal with! And let me tell you we are not negotiations with US or India! So NO 3rd force.
The fact that we are negotiating should be enough to dispel all notions of a 3rd force but we love to fascinate and not realize our problems within!
In 2001, Pakistan made big mistake by helping US for destruction of Pashtuns
what about the role of third country in karachi?
If an elected govt and army cannot protect civilian why should they rule the contry ? Let non state actors take charge.
Ahmed, well said.
Our "leaders" keep appeasing the country's tormentors while the country is losing our brave policemen and civilians EVERY SINGLE DAY at the hand of extremists everyday. Wake up.
@Ashraf: And who is this third force by the way.........?
These arent peace talk, but PIECE talks
@Mirza: It is very early to put blame on any one. Peace talks are going on. Why TTP will do such things? Not possible.. This is done by 3rd forces to divert the country and people like you. Please wake up.
Pakistan isn't a victim of terrorism.
Victims fight back, they don't tolerate their tormentors for so long.
@Voice Of D.I.Khan
Also, where is Ch.Allah Daad nowadays?
See the result of so called "Muzakarat"... Please eliminate Tliban before they eliminate us ...
This only means we should talk more and more (with our tormentors) and act less and less (against our tormentors).
While our fire power and forces are sitting on their hands, TTP is killing our innocents every day by dozens. While their atrocities have increased during negotiations one wonders what would happen if they get their wishes fulfilled? Even Mullah Fazal has condemned the war on Pakistan, our hard core friends of TTP are still with them.
