BHURBAN: On the trip from Islamabad to Bhurban, it was a pleasant surprise to find that behind the glitz and glamour, Pakistan’s celebrities are very human and the bus ride was very similar to a ride with friends.

A necessity for such a journey is music and the bus had barely begun moving before a designer asked for Indian songs to be put on and then promptly criticised the selection for being “too fast and too modern”.

The shuttle moved through Islamabad and passed Aiwan-e-Sadr and as luck would have it, at that time the song playing was “Paisa hai power”. To this an actor muttered, “It is the perfect song for the moment, we are passing the President House after all.”

To pass away time the celebrities began playing a guessing game where names of movies and books had to be deducted. Risque names were more popular with Kama Sutra and Sex, Lies and Videotape being guessed quickly and correctly.

Another topic was Facebook which has been in the limelight ever since it was created and with the recent film, The Social Network, a story about the founders of the site doing well at the box office. Celebrities seem to have the same complaints as the rest of us but it is no doubt much more annoying for these well known faces who had issues with the sites privacy laws, the fact that “every Tom, Dick and Harry wants to add them”, and lastly “how annoying it is to remove them from the lists, these clueless, fast friends, who want to enter our lives.”

Present on the bus were designer Deepak Perwani, photographer Tapu Javeri, model Nadia Hussain, designer Yousuf Bashir Qureshi, VJ Mathira, designer Feeha Jamshed, actor/director Marina Khan, director and producer Jaleel Akhtar, sportswoman Naseem Hamid, comedian Mustafa Chaudry and photographer Amean Jan.
