Diplomatic meeting: Jilani meets US Congressman

Congressman Rohrabacher said that Pakistan-US cooperation had achieved great results in the past.

WASHINGTON: As part of his outreach to the US Congress Ambassador Jalil Abbas Jilani met with Congressman Dana Rohrabacher and discussed Pakistan-US relations. During the meeting ambassador Jilani briefed the Congressman on the positive developments that had taken place in Pakistan with systems and the society changing in fundamental ways and democracy and rule of law taking root. Welcoming the ambassador, Congressman Rohrabacher said that Pakistan-US cooperation had achieved great results in the past. “Today both countries can work together to overcome new challenges including those of poverty and underdevelopment,” the congressman said, emphasising that dialogue could build better convergences and re-invigorate the relationship in the new era. They two officials discussed developments in the region and Ambassador Jilani extended an invitation to the congressman to visit Pakistan at his earliest convenience.
