Load shedding: LHC seeks power, gas supply records

The chief justice remarked that the lack of gas and electricity in winter had made people’s lives miserable.

Lahore High Court Chief Justice Umar Ata Bandial on Friday sought records about production and consumption of gas and electricity by January 15.


The chief justice remarked that the lack of gas and electricity in winter had made people’s lives miserable. He said citizens had been forced to purchase fire wood for as high as Rs1,000 per 40Kg.

He said the government should take steps to provide either gas or electricity during cooking hours to domestic consumers. He was hearing a petition against unscheduled load shedding of gas and electricity.

Advocate Muhammad Azhar Siddique said the government had not chalked out a concrete policy to overcome the crisis and citizens were suffering because of it.

He said people had been pushed to the Stone Age. He said millions were jobless as a result of the load shedding.

He said shortage of power had affected the quality of life in the country.

He said people had been forced to live in the Stone Age.
