ISLAMABAD: The United Nations Industrial Development Organisation (Unido) hosted a project commemoration event here on Wednesday to celebrate its collaboration with the University of Agriculture Faisalabad (UAF) and the Government of Balochistan in the launch of a fruit preservation unit at Kuchlak and a wool collection centre at Pishin. In line with its efforts to extend technical cooperation to rural communities through technology transfer and value-chain development, Unido embarked on developing a tripartite partnership with UAF and the Government of Balochistan to support the agro-industry in rural Balochistan. The two projects are funded by the One United Nations Fund. The fruit preservation unit in particular was developed to support the ongoing Polio Plus Programme. Unido devised the project design that leveraged its expertise in agribusiness with the technical knowledge of UAF in fruit preservation.
