Education needs: Residents of Gomal Bazaar demand high schools, colleges for girls

Say many drop out after primary schooling due to lack of institutes.

TANK: Residents of Gomal Bazaar, Tank district have demanded the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) led government to set up high schools and colleges for girls in their area.

According to a press statement issued on Monday, local elders Dalil Shah, Qasim Khan and Habibullah said the PTI came to power on a slogan of change and to bring reforms in the social sector. Thus, the chief minister and education minister must look into the matter, they added.



“After completing primary schools, girls from our area have to go to Tank city for higher education. Many have decided to not pursue secondary studies because of the long distance, hostel fee and transport fares,” explained Shah.

“There is only one government girls middle school in Gomal Bazaar and it needs to be upgraded to the higher secondary level. The schools upgradation will help students continue their studies till FA/FSc and will also help save their time and money,” he stressed.

Qasim Khan lamented the previous governments had overlooked the matter despite several demands from locals.

Habib said the dream of progress and peace cannot be achieved without education. “After the 18th Amendment, it is the state’s responsibility to provide free education to students up to secondary level,” he said.

The elders remained optimistic the government would set up high schools and colleges for girls in Gomal Bazaar, Murtaza, Kot Khaddak, Kot Nawaz, Kot Wali, Kot Gulzar and Garwaki Machenkhel.
