KARACHI:

The Anti-Terrorism Court extended remand of the alleged murderer of the former special prosecutor lawyer Naimat Ali Randhawa to police custody till October 26 on Saturday.

Kazim Abbas Rizvi, who has been identified by the two witnesses as the senior lawyer’s killer, is believed to be an activist of the Muttahida Qaumi Movement.

A senior member of the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz’s lawyers wing, Randhawa was shot dead in North Nazimabad on September 26 while on his way home with his son, who was also injured in the attack.

On Saturday, the investigation officer produced the suspect and sought extension of his physical custody, saying that they needed to interrogate him further to complete the investigation in other cases as well.

Allowing the request, the presiding officer extended remand of the suspect till October 2 and also directed the investigation officer to submit a charge-sheet by the next date of hearing.
