Karachi violence: Four gunned down in target killings

Two police constables, an informant and an alleged criminal were killed in separate acts of violence.

KARACHI: Two police constables, an informant and an alleged criminal were gunned down late on Tuesday night in separate acts of targeted killing. Two constables identified as Amir Khan, 48, and Shabbir Alam, 35, were deployed at a police picket in the SITE. They were going to a nearby restaurant for dinner when two armed men riding a motorcycle shot them and escaped, District West SSP Irfan Baloch said. Khan died at the spot while Alam succumbed to his injuries during treatment at a local hospital. In a separate incident, a police informant was gunned down by armed men within the limits of a police station. In another incident, an alleged criminal was shot dead in an act of target killing. Police officials said that the deceased was recently released from jail, adding that he was apparently killed by his own companions and that further investigation were underway.
