The explosion took place near a mosque while a gathering of people was still present inside.
Initial reports suggest that hand grenades were thrown inside the mosque by unidentified militants.
Rescue teams have been alerted and are on their way to the site of the explosion.
"The injured are being taken to the Hayatabad Medical Complex," reported Ehtisham Khan, Express News correspondent.

@Ayesha M:
Typical Pakistani mindset:
Bomb blast in Peshawar: Blackwater/CIA Bomb blast in Lahore/Karachi: RAW Rebel attack in Balochistan: RAW/CIA Sectarian attack in Quetta: RAW/CIA Pakistan loses cricket match: Match-fixingMy point here is that it's NEVER our fault. It's always someone else's fault. And this mindset is why nothing here ever changes. If you don't even accept that you have a problem, how can you ever overcome it?
A similar blast in Karachi and in Peshawar, other countries treat even one incident like this as an attack on the country! Yet we are still sleeping inspite of countless countless attacks and killings like these..... all we are doing is begging terrorists for mercy.
Why should we think that our conditions will change???
Looks like mosques are becoming more and more favourite places for terrorists to strike. TTP strategy has always been to cause maximum casualities among ordinary Pakistanis including women and children.
