Midnight raid: Policeman, suspect killed in shoot-out in Lakki Marwat

LAKKI MARWAT: A police constable was killed along with a suspected robber during a shoot-out in Tap Takhti Khel area of Lakki Marwat early Tuesday morning.

Acting on intelligence information, Sarai Naurang police launched a targeted operation against robbers and kidnappers at around 1:00am. Police surrounded a hideout, but the suspects opened fire, severely injuring constable Kalimullah. A suspected robber was also gunned down when the police retaliated.



Senior police official Ghulam Muhammad said they arrested six suspects including kidnappers, while the injured constable was shifted to District Headquarters Hospital, Bannu. The constable was later referred to Khalifa Gul Nawaz Hospital where he succumbed to his injuries.

Muhammad said they raided the hideout after receiving multiple complaints from residents of the area.

Kalimullah’s funeral was held at Police Lines, Lakki Marwat later in the evening and was attended by senior officials. The deceased was then shifted to his hometown of Aba Khel for burial.



Kalimullah’s father, Sub-Inspector (special branch) Gul Janan told The Express Tribune though the grief of his son’s death was unexplainable, he was proud Kalimullah died in the line of duty.
