The National Assembly unanimously passed a resolution on Thursday expressing concern at the use of excessive force by Egypt’s security forces to quell street protests.
“This house expresses its full support for the brotherly people of Egypt and calls upon the government of Pakistan to convey to the government of Egypt its deep concern over the assault on unarmed civilians and the loss of so many innocent lives,” read the resolution tabled by Sahibzada Tariqullah of Jamaat-e-Islami. It further read that the government of Egypt should be urged to show restraint and should try to resolve the issue through dialogue with all the parties involved. FO condemns violence in Cairo.
The Foreign Office also condemned Egyptian authorities over the use of force against unarmed civilians which resulted in the loss of hundreds lives in Cairo and other cities.
A statement issued by the foreign ministry described the August 14 bloodshed as a ‘major setback for Egypt’s return to democracy. “As a friend and a well-wisher of the people of Egypt, Pakistan is closely observing developments in that country and urges all parties to exercise restraint and to respect the fundamental rights of the fraternal people of that great country,” the foreign ministry spokesperson said in a statement.
Pakistan also called for the immediate release of political prisoners including ousted President Mohamed Mursi.
The statement further said constitutional issues can be addressed through dialogue among all parties, in an inclusive and peaceful manner which would enable the country to successfully restore the democratic institutions, as early as possible.
“It is the earnest hope of the government and people of Pakistan that the brotherly people of Egypt with their patience, tolerance and fortitude, would be able to overcome their current challenges, in a manner that ensures sustained democracy, political stability, and economic development, while ensuring peace and well-being of the people,” the statement further reads.
Earlier, Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan expressed deep concern over the killing of civilians in Egypt and urged the government to condemn the violence during the National Assembly session.

Any resolution to stop recommending your comments dozens of times? .............. Times Magazine put it well: Egyptians: World's best protestors. World's worst democrats.
Any resolution for 1971 Bangladesh massacre?
@Kaleem
What you don't realise is that no one in Egypt simply cares for Pakistan's "resolution" - neither Egypt's military nor the oppressed civilians. They are not interested in Pakistan's condemnations. On the other hand, you are talking about suspending relations with Egypt. But it does not affect Egypt right now, as its in complete internal turmoil. But this decision will actually haunt Pakistan later on if/when Egypt refuses to normalise relations with Pakistan. Pakistan already has very few friendly countries left to trade with. Of course, Pakistan's government won't do anything as what you have suggested. Their sources of bribes are already depleting, they can't sadden another country which can give them business.
I request govt. of Pakistan to expel egyptian ambassador and temporarily pull back its staff from egypt, we should suspend all relations with this military government, unless they stop this bloodbath.
When leaders fail at home, they take on themselves to correct the world............old story.
Really ? A Resolution ?
Tell me more how ts going to effect anything at all -_-
Random Egyptian Military leader "Oh my god Pakistan passed a resolution, quick stop killing innocent civilians now !"
Member of parliament representing JI presented the bill, its in their political interest to protect and promote MB other side of the coin for JI.
Follow Bangladesh model Pakistan, Ban JI before they destroy remaining Pakistan.
More Egyptians than the Egyptians themselves. Typical
Pakistan should mind its own business.
As a liberal who does not like rightwing parties including MB, I stand tall for democracy. Democracy does not mean only the election of people I like or vote for. We have to tolerate and accept the will of the people and wait for the next election. Egyptian army killed more citizens in one day than Israel has ever killed that many Arabs in one single day. Military takeover in Egypt would go a long way to hurt democracy in all Muslim countries including Pakistan and should be condemned by all. The only solution is new elections under neutral govt.
Egyptian government should pass resolution to bring the perpetrators of Gojra massacre to justice. Let’s see how that is received in Pakistan.
الجيش المصري قتل مصر Egyptian military mafia conquered Egypt and killed its people. It's the same mafia which conquered and ruled Egypt for thirty years under Mubarak but gave up arms after fighting for only six days against Israel. It could not stomach that a civilian commoner should rule Egypt and in order to protect its nefarious financial concerns its not shying away from pushing Egypt into civil war. Egypt is on its way to become another Algeria in best case scenario, in worst case, it will become another Somalia. Congratulations to liberal fascist for their successful support of this military junta.
future of pakistan....wait and watch.
Where is the outrage now? When Israel kills 10 Muslims, the whole Islamic world erupts. Nearly 600 unarmed Muslims have been mowed down in Egypt and the so-called Ummah is fast asleep. Goes to show that all the outrage is just drama.
This is the future of pakistan.
It is absolutely unbelievable how Pakistanis seem to enjoy shooting themselves in the foot! It is one thing to sympathize with "fellow Muslims" (or whatever) in another country and even "express concern" but does this really require a Parliamentary Resolution? Even a high-school (with modern education, not at places like "maderassahs" of course!) parliament will think twice before doing this. Now surely this will be taken by those that matter in Egypt as an interference in their internal affairs. When is Pakistan going to realize that it is already so isolated in the world, the last thing it needs is to antagonize yet another country even further -- and that too an important country like Egypt! Really really astonishing this behaviour...
Good to see demand for the release of President Mursi. He is a democratically elected president and should be reinstated.
shameless pakistanis, not able to secure own country, cracking head for others.
ET should get its balance right.
Misinformation about Egypt’s ‘massacre’
If it was Musharraf, he would have sent flowers to General Sisi of Egypt, indeed birds of same feather flock together. Even though Pakistan can't do much but this condemnation and support for the people of Egypt will go a long way. Unfortunately, Americans can shed all the crocodile tears they like but they are fully responsible for the military coup in Egypt and the following bloodshed.
What massacre? 43 security officials were killed in action. Obviously Muslim Brotherhood goons were firing on security personnel but mainstream media is trying to portray a one sided pro-MB picture instead. Also numerous churches and Christian properties have been burnt by Muslim Brotherhood goons, pictures of whom are widely available on social media, but mainstream media is ignoring it altogether.
I now know the National Assembly of Pakistan is created to pass resolutions on things happening in other countries and to approve official government trips to various countries with family.
