SUKKUR:

Two women were killed by their husbands after being declared ‘kari’ in Shikarpur and Ghotki on Monday night and Tuesday morning.

In the first incident, Ghulam Nabi Mirbahar, stormed into his in-law’s house to kill his wife and fled from the scene. This incident took place near Mando railway crossing situated in New Faujdari police limits Shikarpur on Monday night.

The victim’s father, Punhal Mirbahar, reportedly told the police that his son-in-law often tortured his daughter, adding that a couple of days back, he beat his daughter mercilessly after which she left his house and started living with her parents. He further stated that the accused used to threaten her of dire consequences. He insisted his daughter was innocent.

New Faujdari police, on the Mirbahar’s complaint, registered an FIR against Ghulam Nabi, who was later arrested with a Kalashnikov.

In another incident, a woman was gunned down by her husband in Adho Lund village within the remits of Yaroo Lund police station near Mir Mathelo district, Ghotki. Mubarak Lund allegedly claimed that his wife was having an affair with someone in the neighbourhood.

On Tuesday morning, while the wife was washing clothes, the accused shot her dead with his pistol, making a quick escape afterwards. The police have yet to register a case.
