Cloud computing: PTCL inks agreement with AIOU

The service will benefit more than 1.3 million students of AIOU, enrolled in various courses from across Pakistan.

ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) has inked an agreement for providing cloud computing services to Allama Iqbal Open University (AIOU). Under the programme, PTCL will offer web space, email and unified collaboration services bundled with EVO access for the students, teachers and management of AIOU, says a press release. The service will benefit more than 1.3 million students of AIOU, enrolled in various courses from across Pakistan. AIOU enrolls more than 700,000 students every six months. PTCL Chief Technical Officer Tariq Salman said, “PTCL business solutions are designed to enable growth and diversity and ‘Taleemi Cloud’ is a unique product which provides end-to-end data and solution integration and access for remote learning.” AIOU Vice Chancellor Dr Nazir A Sangi said AIOU, by partnering with PTCL, would be able to share its teaching resources with the students in remote areas and across the country.
