KARACHI: Shahzaib Hasan smashed an unbeaten 68 as Port Qasim pummelled National Bank by nine wickets in the opening Group B match of the Ramazan Twenty20 Cup in Karachi.

The opening batsman overcame overcast conditions and looked in form as he blasted five boundaries and four sixes in his 46-ball innings.

Aided with the swashbuckling knock, Port Qasim achieved the 154-run target for the loss of one wicket and 14 balls to spare.

Khurram Manzoor was also impressive, chipping in with an unconquered 37 from 40 balls. Khalid Latif was the only dismissed batsman after a cameo of 32 off 22 balls including six boundaries and a six.

Earlier, captain Kamran Akmal was seen in action, smashing 47 off 37 deliveries with the help of six boundaries and a six. He helped National Bank compile 150 for seven after they lost a couple of early wickets.

Aqeel Anjum, with run-a-ball 32, was the other main contributor besides Hammad Azam (27*) and Umar Waheed (18).

Leg-spinner Shahzeb Ahmed was the pick of the bowlers for Port Qasim, claiming a brace after conceding 28 runs from four overs. Abdur Rauf, Mohammad Talha and Ahmed Jamal took a wicket each.

The winners will now meet ZTBL in their second match, while National Bank take on KRL tomorrow night. PIA and Habib Bank finished top of Group A, sealing their berths in the semi-finals.
