Branching out: HEC to establish outreach offices

Construction has been expedited to make it functional before Ramazan.

ISLAMABAD: To facilitate residents of the far-flung areas of the country, the Higher Education Commission (HEC) will establish sub-offices in various cities, the first of which will open in Bahawalpur, according to a press release.

Construction has been expedited to make it functional before Ramazan.

“Actually the aim is to cut the distance people have to travel to visit the HEC Islamabad Headquarter for degree attestation and information about scholarship and other issues related to higher education, HEC Chairperson Javaid Laghari told The Express Tribune.

According to the HEC chief, sub-offices will also be opened in Sukkar, Muzaffarabad and Gilgit in order to facilitate people in upper Sindh, Azad Kashmir and Gilgit-Baltistan.

In the last few years, out of 55 new university campuses; 31 have been established in rural areas.
