A statement issued by the Commission said, “The killings of the foreign tourists brings to mind a similar incident last year when Shias were murdered by killers who came as quickly as they disappeared."
"The incident speaks volumes about the ineptness of the security in the region and the inefficiency of the intelligence apparatus," the statement continued.
Gilgit-Baltistan, which had hitherto been considered a safe place for tourism now poses a serious risk to the industry because of the recent killings in the region.
"Actions against the elements who have claimed responsibility for the killings does not demonstrate much commitment," the statement said.
The statement said that while condemnation of such an attack is vital, concrete steps need to be taken.
"Not clamping down on militancy, a failure to challenge the increasing intolerance in society and responding with mere rhetoric to incidents of bloodshed is nothing short of colluding with the enemies of Pakistan," the statement concluded.
