Lower Kurram: One killed, three injured in IED blast

The tribesmen had gone to Karkhano to attend a marriage ceremony .

PARACHINAR: A tribesman was killed and three others injured when an improvised explosive device (IED) planted by the roadside detonated near their vehicle in Sadda, Lower Kurram Agency.

An official of the political administration from Sadda said the incident happened at around 12:30pm on Sunday when the vehicle was en route to Parachinar, Upper Kurram Agency.

The driver was killed on the spot, while three passengers were injured. The official explained the driver Iqbal Hussain along with Haji Shabbir Hussain, Mujahid Hussain and Baqir Hussain had gone to Karkhano to attend the marriage ceremony of their friend’s son.  After staying in Karkhano for three days the men were returning home to Parachinar when the incident occurred.



The official went on to say the IED was planted by the roadside metres away from Karkhano Phattak. Locals rushed the injured to Sadda Headquarters Hospital, where two of them remained till the filing of this report. Haji Shabbir Hussain was taken to Hangu District Headquarters Hospital after being administered first aid.

The body of the driver was taken to Parachinar.

The Kurram levies launched a search operation in the area after the explosion, however, no arrests have been made, according to the political administration official.
