In custody: Five suspected militants sent on remand

Police claimed the family was involved in several bomb blasts in the area.

PESHAWAR: The court of Judicial Magistrate Ilyas Khan on Thursday sent five suspected militants on a 14-day judicial remand after they denied involvement in terror activities.

On May 25, Chamkani police arrested six suspected militants including a woman during a police raid in Tarnab and also recovered a bomb weighing around eight kilogrammes along with a bag containing seven kgs of explosives. Police claimed the family was involved in several bomb blasts in the area.

All the suspected militants were produced before an anti-terrorism court (ATC) the next day. ATC judge Anwar Hussain gave suspected militants Rohullah, Irfanullah, Asadullah, Kashmir Gul and Ashfaq Ahmad in police custody for a five-day physical remand while the woman, Munthazira, was sent to jail on a 14-day judicial remand.

On Thursday, Rohullah, Irfanullah, Asadullah, Kashmir Gul and Ashfaq Ahmad were produced before the court of Judicial Magistrate Ilyas Khan who later sent all the suspected militants on judicial remand to central prison Peshawar.
