According to the report, a 16-year-old girl turned up at a police station in the United Kingdom on her wedding night and claimed she had been forced to marry a man she had only met once.
Hearing the case, Luton County Court was told that the girl expressed fears to the police that “she would be shot and everybody back home would be told it was suicide.”
The Daily Mail report stated that the girl fled her wedding reception, which was attended by up to 1,000 guests, and arrived at a police station “in her pyjamas and in a distressed state.”
The report further revealed that death threats had previously been made against the runaway bride if she refused to marry.
Two women were accused in the case of conspiring to force the girl to marry, breaching court orders issued earlier banning any arranged wedding.
Counsels representing the accused women denied the accusations.

@Ali: Really. She is a commodity and can be dealt with like that? Amazing intelligence in this age and time
@Shamy: As is to be expected it is others fault
It takes courage to do something like that. Respect
@FP: because in Pakistan no one would consider it illegal. They also wanted to outline where the girl was from without saying it. Muslim. Plain and simple.
@FP: There is word called 'Goodwill' my friend :)
@Shamy: I've been invited to muslim weddings by people I hardly knew. So, if they invite anyone, that might be how they get the numbers up so high.
@FP: Gee, I don't know, could it be that her family is from there? That that was where they were planning to send her to get her out from under the protection of a civilized first world country?
@FP: "she would be taken to Pakistan and killed"
@Redirected from Reddit: "@kaalchakra: you are being sarcastic, yes?"
Unfortunately not. This gentleman has some VERY interesting ideas.
For me, the issue is clear: there is a vitalist, strong and decided culture who firmly wants to conquer and a senile, weak and lazy culture who does not want to defend itself. Whose side would you say the odds are? Btw, one of these cultures is Islam, the other West. Guess who is who?
@kaalchakra:
Do the rest of us a favour and grow up. Thanks.
If these people are not willing to live by the rules of a modern developed country, why do they insist on living in Great Britain instead of some village in Pakistan?
Come on guys, adapt to your adopted country and give up the customs and practices that belong in middle ages.
Yeah, I think we need exMuslim protection programs at this point. If she's willing to leave her whole life behind, she should be helped in doing so regardless of whether the others are convicted or not.
@kaalchakra: you are being sarcastic, yes?
Pain is Temporary........Pain-doo is Permanent!
@kaalchakra: "... Allah is great. and shall destroy the British" THIS is why we can not have nice things. How can you not see that you are not doing yourself any favors by posting this message?
If I were to say something about "white power" and how we will destroy all the "sandniggers", you would think I am a fool at best, and a dangerous extremist at worst. And you would be right. So how can you not see that you are fostering fear and hatred with your message?
It's deeply disturbing that so many cultures treat their young women so horribly.
@FP: Oh geez I don't know maybe cause it's a relevant fact to the story? She told investigators that she would be taken to Pakistan to be killed. I don't know that could be a reason. Just because a country is mentioned doesn't mean the reporter has some agenda against Pakistan, it's cause it's a fact, and any good journalist is going to report on their facts. Had the girl said she was going to be taken to the US the report would have reflected such. I'm so sick of people trying to pull the race/ethnicity/religion card on reporters anytime it's mentioned. Sorry but journalists are not out there to play to your feelings when reporting, they are there to report facts regardless if the facts up set you or not. And honestly if this mentioning of pakistan upsets you, that is pretty sad. Actually incredibly sad.
@Huh?: Why do you let an Indian troll bother you so much? Obviously he's only too happy to post nonsense against Pakistan when it clearly says the family are UK nationals; I say good for the girl that she ran away from some likely unemployed welfare living UK Asian. The real issue is that dysfunctional UK Muslims have to start working, get off state khayrat and integrate in society instead of living in ghettos. Only then will they mature and evolve. Pakistanis have moved on and grown but UK Asians are stuck in a time warp of backwardness - that's why you see unemployed youth there becoming extremists and engaing in crime so much.
@kaalchakra: Don't hold your breath. Allah also sees the Muslims, specially Pakistani muslims, as the biggest hypocrites so don't assume just because you call yourself a muslim you are any better than other humans.
@Siddique Malik: I meant to say "this kind of courage," not "his kind of courage."
This is utter rubbish just to sell news, the tosh these papers print is hardly ever authentic. Mostly they copy from Indian news sites and just do changes to Pakistani, Islam, Muslim... Great British Journalism down the TOILET..
@A: Well said mate . Most Pakistani in UK are from mirpur area of azad Kashmir and most of them are illiterate .
@kaalchakra: .......Media does not have to do anything when you carry that kind of sentiment. Perhaps this is a two sided issue, and just maybe we can focus on our commonality. I don't like violence, and you don't like media brainwashing. Perhaps we can trade. I wont let the media brainwash me about your culture, and you can reject violence in the name of anything.
@FP: 'back home' would appear to cover it, a pakistani forced a pakistani to marry in a country where it is not viewed as acceptable to do so. This is quite possibly being shown on your news as well as english news to portray the incompatability of certain practices in each society, acting as a kind of propoganda (not necessarily for extremism and such, it could be against emmigration, general travel to the EU, etc... Allowing boosts in economy and technological advances as tourism and the workforce are retained to a greater degree within your country).
@Final Solution: Awesome! At times, sarcasm is the best way to sum-up a situation. Siddique Malik, Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
@Umair: How do you know the news is not authentic? Thanks, E.T. for carrying this news. Siddique Malik, Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
I am proud of the young lady who had the courage to run away from a large gathering and report to the police station. It's exactly his kind of courage that will make ignorant families like hers to change. They must be punished to the full extent of law. Siddique Malik, Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
@kaalchakra: And ignorant Muslim families never cease to help the British "concoct new tales to defame Muslims." Try telling a frightened 16-year-old girl that the fact her family threatened to kill her is just a concoction. Siddique Malik, Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
@FP: Let's use a little common sense here. Pakistan came up, because her "loving" family threatened her that she would be taken to Pakistan and killed by them in case she refused to surrender to the curse of a marriage forced upon her by her ignorant family. Another reason" Her family is from Pakistan. Were they from India or Israel or America, they wouldn't be threatening her to take her to Pakistan: Commonsense! Siddique Malik, Louisville, Kentucky, USA.
Her parents must be so proud :D
Dont you find anything positive to show ET? even the news is not authentic :s
Lets all just say "Islam is religion of Peace and marriage is a sunnah"
The illiterate family of this young girl are too thick to understand this but any "nikah" done under force or coercion is invalid.
@Shamy: They have quoted a 'Daily Mail' report here. Don't be so quick in blaming the victim and read carefully.
This is a lie...."which was attended by up to 1,000 guests" ....You cannot afford a wedding of 1000 people in the UK....also, you cannot possibly know 1000 people of your community in the UK...i think the girl is lying here or facts arent correct.
The main thing that seperates British immigrants from immigrants to the US, Canada etc is education. The people who migrated to Britain were mostly uneducated from rural areas and didn't have any civil sense.
ET please tell us something new.
Mirpuris..sigh
Marriage is a decision that requires the girl and boy's approval, hence the Qabool qabool part. If you're forcing your daughter/sister etc to marry someone and threatening her for her life, this isnt and shouldnt be acceptable at all. A girl is entitled to her choice of groom by religion and should be by our society as well
Why name of Pakistan is drag in this matter.... Surprising.... A UK cititzen forced by another UK citizen to marry in UK and it become headline her in Pakistan.
