The injured polio worker Zohra Khatoon had been shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. She was discharged upon receiving emergency care.
In an earlier incident, gunmen shot dead a female health worker and injured her colleague on the edge of Peshawar on Tuesday.
Two attackers on a motorcycle opened fire on polio vaccinators Sumbal and Sharafata in Kaga Wala village in the jurisdiction of Badhaber police station.
Sharafata died on the spot while her colleague was seriously injured. Both were rushed to the Lady Reading Hospital (LRH) where Sumbal was said to be in a critical condition. Sharafata is the third polio vaccinator to be killed in Peshawar.
Five vaccinators have been killed in Karachi and two others in Charsadda, bringing the total number of fatalities to 10.
Even policemen escorting vaccinators have been killed in similar attacks in Swabi, Mardan and Bajaur Agency.

It's called charity - provided by people who apparently care more about the Pakistani people than your own government. Shame on you.
Those who are killing the health workers should be stoned to death.
@Sameer: Did you know "even policemen escorting vaccinators have been killed in similar attacks in Swabi, Mardan and Bajaur Agency."
Are you saying these 2 Pakistani women health workers were spies? You are so smart, you should get a medal like Nishan-e-Pakistan. Pakistan needs more people who think like you.
@Sameer: What has the government done so far ?????
@Sameer: Don't you think its too one sided to pass statements like this? I mean they are doing something good for our society and we, instead of appreciating them are criticizing them. Sad that we can not distinguish between what is better for us and what is not. Lets stop blaming these NGOs for the polio problem in Pakistan and let them work because Pakistan is one of those few countries who unfortunately are still fighting to eradicate polio. Isn't the government just more corrupt? And even if they are not doing it properly, killing them is not the solution.
I think the government needs to ponder on the root cause of these incidents. Is it that the people have lost trust in the NGOs providing vaccination or the terrorists don't want the children of Pakistan to be free of polio? I think it's both and the solution might lie in the government taking charge of the polio campain instead of handing it to these NGOs. I hope the PTI government in KPK takes charge of affairs there and people start trusting the polio workers.
Welcome to Pakistan!!
These polio teams are part of the NGOs who are spying for external powers. They should be banned and all polio medicine should be provided by the Government.
naya pakistan!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Oh God!! have mercy on us
