Pakistan Army clinch gold medal in 70-kilometre road team time trial at the 58th National Cycling Championship

Pakistan Army lead in team trial

KARACHI: Pakistan Army clinched the gold medal in the 70-kilometre road team time trial at the 58th National Cycling Championship in Lahore. Army covered the distance in one hour 30 minutes and 22 seconds as Sui Southern Gas Corporation (SSGC) secured the second place, clocking one hour 32 minutes and 11 seconds while Wapda came in third after finishing three minutes later.

Balochistan finished fourth as Pakistan Railways and Punjab ended the race on the fifth and sixth positions respectively.

SSGC and Wapda will contest for the four-kilometre team pursuit title today at the cycling velodrome while the main event of the 120-kilometre  road race trial, in which nine teams including Army, Railways, Wapda, SSGC and all the four provinces are competing, will be held on the last day of the championship.

On Sunday SSGC and Wapda booked their place in the four-kilometre team pursuit final when they beat Army and Punjab.
