LAHORE: Justice Khalid Mahmood Khan of the Lahore High Court has dismissed a petition seeking the disqualification of former MNA Mian Javed Latif, who won the NA-133 Sheikhupura seat in the 2008 elections.

Petitioner Sajjad Shah had alleged that Latif had committed fraud in obtaining his BA degree, as an impersonator had sat his exams.

He claimed that Punjab University records showed that Latif had not taken his own exams.

He asked the court to disqualify Latif under Article 63 of the Constitution.

Latif denied the allegation, saying that the Higher Education Commission had verified his degree. Justice Khan had earlier reserved his verdict.
