The Election commission of Pakistan (ECP) extended the date for the submission of nomination papers all over Pakistan by two days on Thursday, Express News reported.

Earlier today, huge crowds were seen in the Election Commission offices in different parts of the country. The number of registered parties in the country stands at 247, and thousands of candidates were trying to file papers within the given deadline.

Due to the rush, the last date for filing of nomination papers was extended to March 31.

The ECP released new election schedule, according to which, the scrutiny of candidates will be carried out from April 1-7.

As per the new schedule, appeals can be filed against the candidates from April 8-10 and will be processed from April 11-16.

The election date remains May 11.

Correction: An earlier version of this report quoted March 30 as the new deadline.

NS and Imran Khan both can sleep a sound sleep tonight. They both been preparing for five years to beat PPP and each other and both of them are not ready with their candidate list. NS told people to go ahead and submit papers without any decision. PPP is all ready. Aik Zardari sab pe Bhari
