Admittedly, the numbers on honour killing are difficult to verify because not each crime is always reported to the authorities or by the media but the Human Rights Commission of Pakistan reported that nearly 1,000 women were murdered in honour killings in 2011; this figure was up by more than 100 from the previous year. It is simply unacceptable that a man and a woman can so callously be killed for making their own choices. That this happens day in and day out while a government and its agencies sit by idly is tantamount to criminal negligence. Let this young soldier’s tragic death not be in vain and ensure that not only is the girl saved, but also that other people are saved from similar fates.

@gp65: Sahib, you said it all and your comment. my respect to you sir.
@Someone: " jumping at any chance to malign Pakistan. Don’t like it? Don’t read about it."
Pakistan's image get maligned 1. for Jirga trial for having an affair with a tribal girl with immediate verdict of death by stoning ( stoning carried out by roughly 300 persons for 15 minutes) 2. for keeping mum by political parties/ civil society on such incidents without a word of protest demanding to stop such things. ( silence indicates the mute support of the Jirga decision by the society). Mr. someone with due respect can you suggest the steps to save Pakistan for not being maligned? ( surely concealing the incidents will not help).
Who brought up India at all? Did I miss something in the article? Try sticking to the point instead of desperately jumping at any chance to malign Pakistan. Don't like it? Don't read about it.
To add to what I said, let us consider two scenarios:
Secnario one: Indian terrorist accused of bombing Indian parliament while in session, snetenced to death after going through trial and supreme court appeal spannig 10 years - a process where 3 others were acquitted, showig it was no kangaroo trial. Wen he is executed, Pakistani parliament passes a resolution in support of this terror.
Scenario 2: Pakistani soldier seen talkng to a tribal girl accused of having an affair with her is sentenced to stoning to death by a jirga without any due process. Pakistani parliament does not pass any resolution.
Shows 2 things about parliament's priorities: 1) Support for foreign terrorist 2) Lack of support for own soldiers
Heart breaking. Haven't heard a peep out of any of the political parties or the army chief about the fact that a soldier was stoned to death based on rather sketcy evidence.
