LAHORE:

Eminent lawyer and human rights activist Asma Jahangir has expressed her unwillingness to accept the office of caretaker chief minister of Punjab.

Talking to reporters at the Lahore High Court premises on Tuesday, the former president of Supreme Court Bar Association said she is neither a candidate for prime minister, chief minister or a post of chairman municipal committee.

On the issue of retired judges becoming part of the caretaker setup, she said people should not feel that in the past the country was run by generals and now it is being run by judges, she said.

She said if upcoming elections were filled with bloodshed the security forces should reconsider their role. She said only politicians were held accountable, not the security forces.
