Blast during religious rally in Jacobabad kills one

The deceased has been identified as Shafiq Hussain Shah, grandson of Pir of Qambar Sharif.

JACOBABAD: One person was killed and four others were injured in a blast in Ahmed Deen Brohi village near Jacobabad, Express News reported.

The blast took place near an ongoing rally of a religious party.

The deceased was identified as Shafiq Hussain Shah, grandson of Pir of Qambar Sharif.

Another grandson, Zaki Shah, is among the four injured.

SHO Ghulam Muhammad Brohi said the attack was carried out with a remote controlled bomb that was planted along the roadside.

He further added that he was in front of the car which was carrying Pir of Qambar Sharif, his grandsons Shafeeq and Zaki, their driver and five to six other people.

The car was completely destroyed in the attack.

The injured were shifted to Civil Hospital, Jacobabad.

The followers of Pir of Qambar Sharif  reached the hospital in large numbers following the blast.

Later on, protesters came out on the streets and the city came to a stand still with businesses closing down.
