The private member bill introduced by Abdul Akbar Khan and Israrullah Khan Gandapur, and previously referred to the Standing Committee on Law Reforms, was presented by Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP) parliamentary leader Abdul Akbar Khan.
The pension benefits were earlier discontinued for employees inducted in the provincial civil service after June 30, 2001. These civil servants were offered the contributory provident (CP) fund scheme instead of the general provident (GP) fund through amendments in Section 19 of the Civil Service Act, 1973.
The report submitted by the standing committee termed this amendment discriminatory and criticised the finance department for failing to devise a mechanism to streamline the CP fund even after a lapse of 11 years.
The report added that the law was only applicable in this province and did not apply to the police department.
Abdul Akbar Khan said government employees inducted following the enactment of the amended law will also enjoy the benefits. He maintained the total number of beneficiaries to be 94,000.

i really appriciate this act. no doubt it is employees friendly. pension, on retirement is basic right of every employee which was snatched by early govt: i.e. Musharaf.

is this act applicable for employees been recruited after 2005?
There is some doubt in our minds that whether the act vl b applicable 4 employees been recruited after 2005 or not if not is it not a discrimination?.I appeal to authorities to remove this confusion and obliged.
ALL EMPLOYEES OF GOVT KPK SHOULD BE GIVEN THE RIGHT OF GP Fund and Pension. We request to the Govt that remove the words 30th june 2001 till 23rd July 2005. otherwise we will protest In the whole porvince.
If some body have final Notification for this that how CP fund will be converted to GP Fund?

Is this act beneficial for those people who worked at contract for 6 months and after a year they were regularized by the act of regularization 2009?

Dear Sir, we appreciate this good decision. but it should be implemented soon and also include all REGULAR Employees of KPK.
KPK Govt should immediately implement conversion of CP Fund to GP Fund and we are anxiously waiting for this.
