MUMBAI: Riteish Deshmukh completed 10 years in Bollywood Thursday and says that the day marks another new beginning for him as he debuts as a producer.

The 34-year-old made his Bollywood debut with Tujhe Meri Kasam, which also helped him find his soul mate in his co-star Genelia D’Souza, with whom he tied the knot last year.

“January 3, 2003 — a decade ago my ‘baiko’, Genelia D’Souza and me, made our debut in this wonder world of films; Tujhe Meri Kasam, a step that changed my life,” Riteish, son of late minister Vilasrao Deshmukh, tweeted.

“Never thought I would last here for 10 years but I guess I underestimated your patience. Thank you for all your criticism, support and love,” he further posted.

After a successful stint as an actor, the day becomes even more special as Riteish now makes his debut as a producer with Marathi film, Balak Palak.

“Today, I debut as a producer with my Marathi film Balak Palak — absolutely proud of it,” he said in a post on his Twitter page.

Directed by Ravi Jadhav, Balak Palak is said to be a fun-filled drama that will help parents realise the importance of transparent communication with their children.

According to Riteish, who has co-produced it with Uttung Thakur, the film will have a “virtual premiere in five cities of Maharashtra” on UFO digital.

The story revolves around four teenagers, who set out to find answers as to why a resident of their colony was forced to exit (after bringing disgrace to her family). After receiving no valid answer from their parents, they embark on a journey to find the truth. In this journey, they end up bonding a little too much with their over mature school-mate ‘Vishu’, who introduces the foursome to blue films.

Balak Palak was also screened at the 14th Mumbai Film Festival.
