Protest: Locals resist transfer of X-ray equipment

Chief executive of the hospitals committed to take up their concern with higher authorities.

SWAT: People from all walks of life staged protest over the government decision to shift radiology equipment from Saidu Sharif Group of Hospitals to another hospital in the province, on Tuesday. The protesters set a three-day ultimatum, threatening to observe shutter-down strike if their demands were not addressed within the stipulated period. They also observed sit-in outside the office of the medical superintendant (MS). Furthermore they said that the hospital officials would be responsible for any unpleasant situation that may arise due to the protest. Meanwhile, some doctors including MS Khurshaid arrived assured of their cooperation. Later the protesters held a meeting with the chief executive of the hospitals, who committed to take up their concern with higher authorities.
