Facebook shuts down Taliban account: Report
The Umar Media TTP page, which had more than 270 likes, appeared to have been created in September and had just a handful of messages written in English.
“Umar Media is proud to announce online jobs oppertunities (sic),” said the first post on the networking website, written on October 25.
Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) spokesman Ehsanullah Ehsan had confirmed to AFP by telephone that the faction was “temporarily” using the page “to fulfil its requirements” before launching its own website.
The TTP Facebook page described the publication as its “official quarterly magazine” and asked writers to submit articles “on (a) topic of your choice”, or on jihadi current affairs, history, Islamic movements or the plight of Muslims.

@Pessimist: It doesn't need to be that complicated. Besides you're talking to a simple minded type so you should keep it simple. @brian: Facebook can shut down any accounts they want. There is freedom of speech but there isn't "right to a facebook account."
Aha, I see the anti-amreeka brigade has already started posting. The Taliban incite violence i.e. they are indulging in "fighting words". The maker of the stupid video on the other hand has never called for anyone to be killed, nor recruited people to do the same.
Facebook has rightly shut down the account as it does not want to be a party to recruitment of potential suicide bombers and terrorists on its website.

I was wondering when somebody would bring that topic up. Allow me to explain. The Taliban believe in killing those who do not follow their rules. I do not need to expain any further on why these people are scum. I didn't visit this FB page but I believe they would regularly post non-sense there. That is NOT free speech. That is hate speech. Calling for someone to be killed, especially on a public forum, is anything but free speech. The blasphemous pages, however silly they are, do not incite hatred. Those people are just expressing their (ignorant) views. If they called for all Muslims to be attacked or killed, then you can classify it as hate speech and not freedom of speech. Rant over..
Now the CIA can easily hunt these 270 people...
