KARACHI: The case of the mysterious explosion inside an apartment in Defence has been registered under the anti-narcotics act as police believe the blast occurred during the process of manufacturing drugs. On Saturday, the fourth floor of a building at Khayaban-e-Bukhari was rocked by a huge explosion. Police impounded chemicals from the flat and sent them to the laboratory. “It has been confirmed that the explosion was caused by the chemical processing of narcotics,” said DSP Zameer Abbasi. A man, who was injured in the blast, was caught while his accomplice escaped. He confessed that they were associated with an interprovincial group of drugs smugglers. The case (FIR No. 559/12) was registered at Darakshan police station under Sections 11/16 and 6/9 of the anti-narcotics act.
