LAHORE:

Students from King Edward Medical University (KEMU) protested outside the Lahore Press Club on Tuesday against the shifting of girls into the boys’ hotels.

The protesters said that the allotment of the boys’ hostel to girls would cause many social problems and was also a security risk. They added that the shifting of boys to the Hall Road Hostel was also impossible as there are already three to four doctors residing in each room. This mid-term allotment, they said, was not only against university rules but also would give rise to lack of accommodation for next years’ freshmen. The students said they would block Hall Road if the decision was not cancelled. The protest was lead by Ali Arshad, Muhammad Atif, Adnan Basheer, Salman Farooq Dar, Shaban Chandio, Qasim Rana, Farhan Ashraf, Qudratullah, Yasir Anwar and Nabeel Akbar.
