Youth support: 12,000 PU students get laptops today

Nawaz Sharif expected to attend ceremony.

LAHORE: As many as 12,000 students from the University of the Punjab will receive laptops during the second phase of the laptop distribution as part of the Shahbaz Sharif Youth Initiative in Lahore on Monday (today).

The event scheduled to take place at the Hockey Stadium at around 3pm, will be the second event of the second phase. The first took place in Faisalabad on November 8, where MNA Hamza Shahbaz distributed laptops among students. In this phase, 100,000 laptops will be distributed among students enrolled in evening programmes of study.

More than 100,000 laptops were distributed the previous year. The government has also launched an internship programme for 50,000 young graduates. The interns will get a monthly stipend of Rs10,000.

According to a PU statement, a meeting was held on the campus on Sunday to review arrangements for the ceremony to distribute laptops. Vice Chancellor Dr Mujahid Kamran said the laptops distribution would be monitored by departmental committees.

Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz President Nawaz Sharif is expected to attend the event at the PU today.

Sir i m a student of Forman christian college university and this is my first semester but i passed my Fsc in 2011. m i eligible for applying this achievement...
