Miranshah: Two injured in landmine explosion

A security official and an employee of the Water and Power Development Authority (Wapda) were severely injured in a landmine explosion in Miranshah, North Waziristan Agency.


According to an official of the security forces, the men were repairing the 132KV power transmission line near an audit office in the town when the security personnel stepped on the landmine. The Wapda employee was working nearby when the accident occurred.

The security official added that the area is surrounded by barbed wires and landmines for security purposes. He further stated that after the incident, the injured were rushed to the Agency Headquarters Hospital Miranshah, where doctors said that the security worker was in a critical condition.

The Wapda official was fixing the electricity supply, which had been disconnected for three days due to a curfew in the area.
