The Defence Housing Authority will open three sectors of Phase VIII for construction of houses by next year.
This was decided at the annual meeting of the governing body, which also approved the 2012-13 budget. Around 62 per cent of the budget will be used for development, including construction of roads in the new phase, which is reportedly going to be largest in DHA.
“Work on the other major scheme, DHA City Karachi, is also on fast track so that it is open by 2016,” said a statement. The annual meeting of DHA Governing Body was chaired by Secretary Defence Lt Gen (ret) Asif Yasin Malik at Headquarters 5 Corps. Malik asked DHA to continue introducing new trends in the field of housing and civic management to ensure that the authority remains versatile.

@USMAN786: The reason its expensive is because most DHA is the only scheme where you can buy a plot and it will stay there when the time comes to build a home. Can you tell me about an other scehem?
DHA is a standard for all others to follow. Bahria is one man show so many people are not confident. Plot are free only for shaheeds rest get on payment (which includes profit for GHQ besides cost of land and development). The huge escalation in prices is due to civilians who consider them secure and better maint. If you are interested in getting a free plot just visit Wana belt.
