PESHAWAR: Six policemen and a constable of the Frontier Constabulary (FC) were injured when the Taliban attacked two check posts in Matani on Sunday. Militants ambushed the check posts at Ghazi Abad and Frontier Road at 10pm and opened fire at the police. Police officials and FC men deployed at the check posts, however, repulsed the attack after a heavy hand to hand fight which continued for about 45 minutes. Police personnel from the Badabher police station were sent to reinforce the area, forcing the militants to flee towards Akka Khel area of the adjacent Khyber Agency. The injured were immediately shifted to Lady Reading Hospital. It was the second clash of its kind in the past 12 hours between the police and militants.
