BAHAWALPUR/ MULTAN:

Mainstream political parties are fooling people in the name of new provinces, Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) President Javed Hashmi said on Tuesday.

Addressing a PTI meeting in Jhangiwala, Hashmi said the PTI supported the creation of the Bahawalpur province while the PML-N would never do so.

He said he had developed differences with the PML-N leadership over his support for the Bahawalpur province and labelled a “rebel.”

He said the PML-N had later ceded to the political tide which favoured new provinces. He said the PTI was the only party that if elected would create the Bahawalpur province.

He also said Imran Khan was the only head of a major political party to join protests against the anti-Islam movie. He said the PTI was also planning to take over two hundred thousand people to Waziristan for a peace rally.

The meeting was also addressed by Sheikh Abbas Raza, Farzand Ali Goheer and Malik Asghar Ali Joya.

Raza said the PML-N had merely passed a resolution in the Punjab Assembly while the PPP was raising false hopes by sending a reference to the NA speaker.

He said the federal government had not sanctioned any budget for Bahawalpur nor set aside Bahawalpur’s share in the revenue.

He said the people of Bahawalpur will not fall for hollow promises. He said resources from Bahawalpur were being used to develop Lahore.

Malik Asghar Ali Joya announced he was joining the PTI.

The meeting was also attended by PTI deputy president Ejaz Chaudhry.

Later, on Monday, addressing a press conference in Multan, Hashmi said Europeans and Americans were united in their opposition to the drone strikes on the people of Waziristan and Afghanistan.

He said the government was trying to stop foreign journalists but the PTI would go head with the rally.

He said the party will complete its internal election before October 15 and then proceed to allocate the tickets.
