Yay or Nay?: Best Dressed

Here are this week’s celebs that rocked (and some that tried too hard) the red carpet.

As always, The Express Tribune’s roving style-o-meter has kept an eye out for fashion wins and faux pas. Here are this week’s celebs that rocked (and some that tried too hard) the red carpet.

Best Dressed

Alexis Bledel

Thirty-one-year-old actor Alexis of “Gilmore Girls” fame was on trend at Nylon TV’s issue part last week with the floral printed top and skinny leather pants. We love the metal studded clutch and dark purple nails!

Jessica Alba

The lovely Jessica Alba added a splash of colour to the Ralph Lauren show front row at the New York Fashion Week with a bright yellow plaid skirt. The fitted cap-sleeved tee paired with the waist high skirt looked neat and elegant, and the actor looked comfortable (and fashionable) as she watched the show with other A-listers. No wonder they’re calling her Little Miss Sunshine!

Sridevi

The Hindi film bombshell from the 80s looked smoking hot at the Toronto Film Festival when she showed up in the stunning Sabyasachi sari. The jewelry by Gehna was equally beautiful, and the up-do with the smokey eyes has us drooling. Two thumbs up for not looking like an aunty!

Worst Dressed

Malaika Arora

You may be hot Malaika, but that neckline is just too much with that body hugging Namrata Joshipura dress you wore the kick-off event of “India’s Got Talent”. Will we ever see Malaika in something other than what she wears during her “item numbers”?

Karisma Kapoor

Karisma Kapoor wore this princess-line dress by French brand Paule Ka which skirted just below her knee. Unfortunately, in her attempt to look sleek and slender, she opted for this boring black velvet ribbon-belt and black watch. We know you’re in great shape, lady — it’s time you funk up the wardrobe.

Kat Graham

“Vampire Diaries’” Kat Graham wore this blindingly neon yellow Blumarine tube dress to bring out her gorgeous tan at Nylon TV’s issue party last week. While the actor has a stunning figure, it really looks like she’s trying hard to pull off a look that really isn’t her. The futuristic lace-up boots are definitely sexy, but the matching cuff just screams “I’m trying too hard to be edgy”. And the hair band made of her own hair is just plain creepy. Fail!
