Natural disaster: 20 killed in rains: DCO

Rains had affected more than 400,000 people in Rahim Yar Khan.

RAHIM YAR KHAN:


As many as 20 people died in monsoon rains in Rahim Yar Khan this season, DCO Wajid Ali Shah told the media on Monday.


He said hundreds of houses collapsed and crops on more 35,000 acres were destroyed. The DCO said that the rains had affected more than 400,000 people and killed cattle worth hundreds of thousands of rupees.

He said electricity infrastructure had also been affected in several areas of the district.

He said rescue and relief camps had been set up by various departments where food and medical treatment was being provided to flood-affected people.
