LAHORE: A group of Olympians have called for a change in the leadership of the Punjab Olympic Association (PBOA) by holding fresh elections, saying that the body has no legal status after failing to implement the Supreme Court’s decision on the National Sports Policy.

In a joint statement yesterday, former captain Akhtar Rasool, Hanif Khan, Saleem Sherwani and Ishtiaq Ahmed said that PbOA should follow the direction of the Pakistan Sports Board regarding implementation of the sports policy to safeguard the future of sports in the province.

“It is time for a change and time to introduce reforms in the PbOA which is being run by individuals who have been in office for decades,” it was stated.
