The National Assembly’s sub-committee of standing committee on defence, which met in Islamabad on Tuesday, also proposed that residents should not be obligated to take prior permission from DHA for holding wedding ceremonies.
“Not everyone can afford a club for wedding,” said MNA Nawab Abdul Ghani Talpur, the convener of the committee, before adding that the lawmakers have conveyed their displeasure to the DHA.
The housing society had issued a new set of guidelines that listed a number of permissible and prohibited activities.
While mehndis, nikkahs and birthday parties were allowed, musical and dance parties were banned. DHA’s vigilance staff had been directed to halt events that were being organised without prior permission.
Other civic issues
Talpur said that DHA had been asked to restrict the use of guns in its jurisdiction. “Aerial firing has become a serious problem, [specially] at wedding functions.”
Association of Defence Residents’ Asad Kizalbash said that lawmakers could not reach any decision over renting properties for commercial activities like shooting television serials, or organising movie screenings and parties.
There are close to 50,000 tax-paying households in DHA and Cantonment Board Clifton. While Kizalbash agreed that the practice was illegal, he added, “If a friend wants to use my lawn then there is no problem in that”.

@Ameer. very well said
@Adharsh: Not neccessarily. Lots of people live in apartments in DHA too like phase 2.
"These un-Islamic dance parties and gatherings organized by the liberals promote western nudist culture in our pure country."
LOL. Seriously? There is NOTHING pure about this country. Every day people are raped, molested, murdered, killed. Minorities can't even go to their places of worship without being scared for their life. Hell, even other muslims (Shias) live in perpetual fear. So I think the least of your concerns is a bunch of people having a party in the privacy of their own house, even though it promotes a "western nudist culture".
Mr. Abdul Ghani Talpur, who are you fooling? Residents of DHA can certainly afford a club for a wedding if they can afford to live in the DHA.
Secondly, kudos to DHA for banning these dance parties. These un-Islamic dance parties and gatherings organized by the liberals promote western nudist culture in our pure country.
May Allah reward DHA for this brilliant decision. This is the true spirit of Pakistan.
Irrespective of being able to afford a club or not i feel till one is in his home and is not disturbing his neighbours then i feel it should not be a problem for anyone. The volume could be kept a check on like it is done in every other civilised nation . And about the gun fire it is a serious problem as we do not realise that a lot of people get fatally wounded by stray bullets.
lOls , the argument is so vague , no every one can afford a club . IN DHA ? Lolx
Well Done DHA, keep it up, its not the time to waste the energies of our youngs like this. So, parliamentarians are angry because their own children are involved in this kind of immoral activities.
Well this is a good step , all of us know that what these musical nites bring beside so called "music"
@nerdcrunch, as per teaching of which islam? Yours? Mine? Sunni? Shia? Sufi? Etc etc
If you pay tax, you are allowed to do everything???? There are tons of activities that can be done yet we have to do only things that are not as per teachings of Islam. huh!
Thank you PPP and MQM: the mistakes of 70's should not be repeated.
Its time DHA should start importing Mutawwas from Saudi.
Those who live in DHA CAN afford clubs. #justsaying
