The sectors of I-8, I-10, G-10 and G-11 have been facing acute water shortages due to power outages, officials said on Friday.
Officials of the Capital Development Authority (CDA) said the areas that depend on water from tube wells are facing water shortage because of inordinate power cuts. They said the authority had approved a separate feeder for tube wells but Islamabad Electric Supply Company (IESCO) is not maintaining a constant supply of electricity to them.
The officials added that the number of water complaints that they receive are more than 1,300 a day. Even though the authority increased the number of water tankers at its disposal to 25, it is able to address only 900 complaints in a day, while the remaining go unattended, officials said.
On the other hand, the water level in Khanpur dam, which supplies water to Islamabad and Rawalpindi, has reached a height of 1920 acre-feet, while the dead level is 1913 acre-feet.
