Raja Pervaiz Ashraf's involvement in Rental Power Plants scam has landed him nickname of 'Raja Rental' among masses. PHOTO: FILE
Raja Pervaiz Ashraf was nominated as a covering candidate for Makhdoom Shahabuddin on Wednesday by the Pakistan Peoples Party (PPP). As fate would have it, by Thursday evening, and one arrest warrant later, he has now emerged as a forerunner to become the next prime minister of Pakistan. But his involvement in the infamous Rental Power Plants (RPP) case, christened him as ’Raja Rental’ among the masses.
As soon as he submitted his nomination papers, the trend “Raja Rental” emerged on Twitter. While some tweets were of a serious nature regarding the scam he was convicted for, others took up a lighter tone to criticise his nomination.

Why we are bent on humiliating the leaders we ourselves chose. We do not know much about the background of our leaders,their education and how they conduct them with their constituents.
Most of our info comes from from shady newspapers and corrupt journalists whose media houses are nothing more than yellow press spreading sensation,anxiety and frustration. Such a press is very good at coining names so that they can sell their newspaper which is very hard thing to do these days.
Raja Pervaiz is an educated person,a law graduate and a down to earth character. He comes from a small village near Gujar Khan. He is no land aristocrat. Potohawari people are small peasants and so is he. He is like every body else in this area and nicely fits in as a commoner. Like every other Potohari he is a committed fried and his loyalty is not for sale.
Let us not ridicule a commoner and pull his leg to bring him down if he is bound to rise. He is one of us.

Raja Rental was not capable to hold the public office of Federal Minister for electricity, now he is been nominated to become the Prime Minister of Pakistan.
We have very few people capable to run the affairs of Pakistan honestly and diligently and Raja Rental in no way qualify to be the next Prime Minister of Pakistan.
May Al-Mighty Allah save Pakistan from all the corrupt people. Ameen.

Raja Rental is a proven incompetent “commoner”. Lets, for a change, bring those people to the office who know what they are doing. Also, the current set of “parliamentarians” are, at best, local body material. They have absolutely no idea what legislation is all about and what is the function of Parliament. “Raja Rental” I still remember during O level times he was the most followed politician largely because of those obnoxious load-shedding timings! As the tweet says, the country should brace itself for ‘Total Load-shedding’. Raja boy, you indeed are the most deserving applicant for PM’s office summer internship!

For God’s sake, who are you trying to fool here? For all we know you could be the Raja Rental himself trying to sneak doubts in people’s mind about your true charater.
Let me tell you, I belong to this man’s constituency and I can assure you that he is the most hated guy in this area. He is a proven thief. Why do you think was the rental plants scheme implemented? to generate electricity? that must be the biggest joke of the decade. The only reason he has been nominated for the PMship is because he is corrupt to the core and wont dare to disobey the ‘Big Boss’.
