LAHORE:

The Lahore High Court chief justice on Monday directed the provincial government to submit its plan to control a possible dengue fever epidemic this year.

A provincial law officer earlier assured the court that all arrangements were in place to deal with a possible outbreak of the disease. He said a spray campaign will be started across the province during the monsoon season.

The LHC chief justice was hearing the petition, seeking government’s plan to deal with the disease in future, pending since the outbreak of the disease in March last year.

The petitioner said the disease could once again become an epidemic as the government had not taken adequate precautions.

The CJ has adjourned the hearing till June 25.
