Celebrating poetry: Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai remembered

Sindh culture department celebrated the 331st birth anniversary of the great Sufi poet Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai at Mumtaz Mirza auditorium on Wednesday.


The chief guest was provincial minister for culture, Sassui Palijo.

She cut a cake in the presence of writers, poets and artists.

Speaking on this occasion, Palijo said that the government would earmark funds for a Latif Institute to provide research facilities to the candidates of M Phil and PhD programmes.

She said the poetry of Shah Abdul Latif Bhittai was being translated into Urdu, English, Persian, Arabic, Turkish, French and German which would spread the message of peace and love around the globe.

On this occasion, the minister presented a cheque of Rs5 million to Dr Suleman Shaikh, the chairman of the Sindh Graduates Association.
