Workshop: 40 people to get training on gemstones

Over 40 people will be trained on gemstone identification, characteristics, grading and value assessment at a three-day workshop that started here on Tuesday.


The workshop aims to highlight salient features of gemstone trade and certain pitfalls.

On the first day, Senator Semeen Yusuf Siddiqui said public-private partnership is a must for quality improvement and value addition of gemstone and jewellery products being made in the country.

Pakistan Science Foundation Chairperson Prof. Dr Manzoor H Soomro said that Pakistan Museum of Natural History (PMNH) should work with private enterprises so that local products can compete internationally.

The workshop is being organised by PMBH and Pakistan Gems and Jewellery Development Company.
