PESHAWAR:

The provincial interior department, on Monday, has once again directed all commissioners to provide data on foreigners and non-residents living in their respective districts.

The commissioners have been asked to forward all the information as soon as possible in an official notification issued this week. The information will be presented in the upcoming cabinet meeting.

Earlier, the commissioners had been requested to gather all the information on foreigners and non-residents in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa by January 30 with the help of revenue field staff in rural areas and municipal organisations in urban areas.

They were also asked to share the data with district police officers and intelligence agencies.

The provincial cabinet had decided to collate all the data pertaining to foreigners by January 30 and had directed commissioners across 43 divisions to computerise all the information.

Because of the proximity of cities and towns to Federally Administered Tribal Areas, militants often infiltrate settled areas undetected by security officials and the police.
