Senior Provincial Minister Bashir Ahmed Bilour announced on Wednesday that the local bodies election in Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa will be held in October.

Bilour said that the polls will be held on a party basis, adding that there will be specific seats for women and minority.

The Supreme Court had earlier ordered all provinces to submit their schedules for local government elections by April 30.

The Sindh and Balochistan governments had informed that court that it was not conducive to hold the elections due to the law and order situation.

The Punjab government had indicated earlier that it might hold elections by August.
