Bureaucracy shuffle: New law secretary, attorney general appointed

Irfan Qadir new attorney general of Pakistan, Yasmine Abbasi appointed law secretary.

ISLAMABAD: In a new shuffle in high-level bureaucracy posts, Yasmine Abbasi was appointed as the new Law Secretary while Irfan Qadir, the former law secretary, was appointed as the Attorney General of Pakistan on Thursday.

The post of Advisor to President House was handed over to Maulvi Anwarul Haq who was serving as the attorney general.

Qadir was appointed as a senior advocate and was presently working as Consultant (Legal Affairs), President’s Secretariat as Secretary Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Division.

On Wednesday, former chairman Senate Farooq H Naek was appointed as the new Minister for Law and Justice, replacing Maula Bux Chandio.

Gilani also approved promotions of officers from grade 21 to 22.

Foreign Service: Ms. Seema Ilahi Baloch, Mr. Rizwanulha Mehmood and A B K Babar.

 Police group: Mr. Muhammad Habibiurehman and Mr. Wajid Ali Durrani.

 Secretariat group: Mr. Ziauddin, Mr. Khalid Khan Toru, Dr. Muhammad Khawar Jamil, Mr. Bilal Anwar, Mr. Munir Ahmed, Mr. Himyatullah Khan, Mr. Saleem Sethi, Mrs. Nasreen Haq, Mr. Kamran Lashari, Mr. Muhammad Juman J Jamro, Mr. Tariq Shafi Chak, Mr. Mazahar Ali Khan and Mr. Kamaran Ali Qureshi
